Beginners Classes
For all new students or those with less than two years’ experience of Iyengar yoga.
Basic postures are taught to develop strength, stamina and flexibility and they are suitable for any age group. Sanskrit names for the postures are given, but don’t worry, you’re not expected to learn them all at once.
Students with experience of other styles of yoga are advised to attend a Beginners class at first, to familiarise themselves with the Iyengar method’s basic principles. Teachers can recommend if other levels are more suitable.
There are two or three Beginners classes every day, all run on a drop-in basis. There is no need to book, but it is best to arrive around 10–15 minutes before your class, especially at weekends and evenings.
