In recent years the Web: Ramamani
Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI) in Pune, India, has been overwhelmed
by applications from students from around the world. It has therefore
been decided to screen all applications through the national associations.
In order to attend classes for one or two months at RIMYI you need to
follow the procedures below. These are now mandatory for all students
resident in Britain. For nationals from other countries, please contact
your national association.
Procedures:
1. Call the Institute or email us
for an information pack on attending classes in Pune. The information
pack consists of (1) Letter regarding procedures (similar to the information
given here) (2) Information for the Student (3) BKSIYTA Request for Enrolment
form.
2. Read the Information for the Student thoroughly below. Note
that you need a minimum of 8 years of regular Iyengar yoga practice,
certified by your Iyengar teacher, and you must regularly practise salamba
sirsasana and salamba sarvangasana for 8-10 minutes.
3. Complete the Request for Enrolment
form.
4. Enclose $150 (US dollars) as a deposit for one month's classes in
the form of a bank draft/international money order (no cash and no
group booking please).

to Pune. If you have any enquiry with the status of your application,
please contact Penny at the above address.
The Institute is not in a position to help any further with your
application, and nor can it help with accommodation or flights.
The following are the procedures provided for the student by
RIMYI (not by Maida Vale):
Information for the Student
For admission the institute requests that the students practice of 8
years reflect an understanding of the foundation of Iyengar Yoga. This
would include the regular practise of inverted poses (8-10 mins in the
inverted postures). The women should know what is to be practised during
menstruation. All students should have read, at a minimum, the introductory
chapter to Light on Yoga and be familiar with the terms and principles
covered in that chapter.
The following should be noted.
1. RIMYI offers one or two months admission the above deposit is for one
month.
2. Admission is strictly for the dates given.
3. Advance is part of the fee and hence not transferable to any other
person or course, it is non-refundable.
4. In the event of cancellation, deposit will not be refunded and student
will need to re-apply as per new.
5. 6 classes are given per week, each for 2hrs duration, a schedule will
be given on arrival.
6. The last week of each month will be pranayama classes.
7. No extensions will be given beyond two months under any ground.
8. Admissions will have to be confirmed two months in advance.
9. Confirmation letter will be given from us, (do not regard this as confirmation
of admission) and should be presented on arrival.
10. The classes will be conducted by Guruji Iyengar or his daughter or
Son or by staff members.
11. Please make your own arrangements of boarding / lodging.
12. Certificates will not be issued at the end of the session.
13. When applying please include relevant bio-data with any health conditions.
